Description
The Virtus 17L Assault Pack is the current-issue fighting-load daysack of the British Armed Forces, built for missions where speed and access matter more than bulk capacity. Finished in MTP (Multi-Terrain Pattern), it's genuine UK government surplus — the same daysack issued to serving troops, not a commercial copy.
Constructed from tough Cordura nylon (330D/500D/1000D depending on panel), the pack is built to survive the fighting load day in, day out. The main compartment takes core kit, a rear zip pocket holds a hydration bladder up to 12L with a routing point for the drinking tube, and a top pocket is sized for goggles or NVGs. A small front zip pocket and side pockets handle smaller items and elongated gear like a torch or multitool.
Padded, concealable shoulder straps and a quick-release chest strap keep the load stable on the move, while side and inner compression straps with quick-release buckles let you cinch it down when it's not full. MOLLE webbing runs across the front and sides for attaching pouches, and a hook-and-loop panel at the front takes ID or rank patches.
Heavy-duty YKK side zips let the pack clip directly onto the Virtus 90L Bergen as an add-on daysack, or it carries perfectly well on its own for patrol, day hikes, cadets, or EDC use.

Is this genuine military surplus?
Yes. We stock authentic issued military equipment, not replicas — combat boots, clothing, webbing, rucksacks and field equipment sourced as genuine surplus.
What do the condition grades mean?
Every item is graded so you know exactly what you're getting:
Brand New / Unissued — Unused military surplus. May have minor storage marks.
Supergrade — Excellent used condition with very minimal signs of wear.
Grade 1 — Good used condition. May show light wear, marks, fading or previous owner identification, but fully serviceable.
Grade 2 — Heavily used but serviceable. Expect noticeable wear, marks, repairs, fading or cosmetic damage.

How do I pick the right size?
Military surplus sizing differs from civilian high-street sizing, so check our Size & Condition Guide before you order — it covers NATO and UK conversions for jackets, shirts and trousers, plus notes on fit for specific items (Altberg boots, for example, are known to fit snugly).
Jacket and shirt sizes are taken pit-to-pit (armpit to armpit); trouser sizes are based on waist and inseam measurements.
How fast is delivery?
Free 24hr UK delivery on orders over £60. Orders placed before 1pm Monday–Friday are dispatched the same day; orders placed after 1pm, or on weekends and bank holidays, go out the next working day.
Royal Mail 24 (tracked) typically arrives 1–2 working days after dispatch, and Royal Mail 48 (tracked) 3–5 working days after dispatch — both are estimates rather than guarantees. A Guaranteed Next Day service is also available for £24.99 (order before 1pm Mon–Thu for next-day arrival; Friday orders arrive the following Monday).
Do you ship outside the UK?
We do ship internationally via Royal Mail, Parcel Force, DHL and DPD, though delivery times vary by destination and are estimates only. Import duties and taxes are the recipient's responsibility, and customs delays don't count as late delivery. Get in touch if you'd like to check delivery to your country before ordering.
What's your returns policy?
UK orders can be returned for a full refund within 60 days of receipt; international orders within 30 days. Items must be unworn, unused, in their original packaging, and with all tags and labels still attached — items with tags removed aren't eligible for a refund.
Return postage is paid by the customer and isn't reimbursed, so we'd recommend using a tracked service, as we can't be held responsible for items lost on the way back to us.
Will I get exactly what's pictured?
Product photos show a representative example of the item. As these are authentic used pieces, individual items will vary slightly in wear from one another while still matching the condition grade stated on the listing.
