Romanian Army M73 Helmet

During the 1960s and 1970s, the Socialist Republic of Romania, despite being a Soviet satellite state, wanted to operate more independently from the Soviet Union. This caused tension on their relationship. This desire for independence heightened after the Sino-Soviet split and under the leadership of Nicolae Ceaușescu, leading Romania to assert its distinctiveness from Moscow. Consequently, there arose a necessity to overhaul the military, prompting a revamp of its uniform and helmet designs.
